My Message Hasn't Changed
Eight years ago, after a debilitating stroke and 15 years of retirement, I felt that I had been called to come back to work. So, my wife, Sheryl, and I decided to throw a party. We invited our closest friends, about 30 couples. This was my welcome to my friends then, and it's still my message today.

Thank you for being here.
I want to tell you what I am doing.
You know what I did before: business, tax and estate planning; and, toward the end, I found a new version of estate planning called asset protection.
After fifteen years, I have decided to come back, to take the planning to another level. I have found a need and a void, and I have finally found the passion again.
The need: almost nobody knows what they need in terms of planning.
They don't realize how many opportunities there are.
They don't realize that there are thousands of dollars, even hundreds of thousands of dollars, in taxes that can be saved basically with a stroke of the pen.
They don't realize how vulnerable their assets are, how one car wreck could leave them penniless, which could be prevented basically with a stroke of the pen.
They need help, and they don't realize it.
Here’s the void. There are only a handful of professionals in this area who have the knowledge to do the job, but they will not do what I will do, mainly because they have successful practices without doing this, so they will not do it.
So, my mission is to educate people and help them with plans to protect their assets and family. The concept is quite simple: a comprehensive plan for the family. Each family is unique, has different problems, so each must have its own tailored plan.
I will look at the entire situation, look at all assets and determine who or what should own them; look at all estate planning documents, business documents, investment relationships, life and casualty insurance and make sure they are up-to-date; especially look at tax strategies; and give an assessment and a plan for all. I will then oversee all the moves to be made to execute the plan to make certain it has been finished. Not practicing law, but coordinating the professionals' work.
All of a sudden, we find ourselves as the older generation. We have children and grandchildren. We have gone through marriages, divorces, births, deaths, and all kinds of troubles.
We are wealthy. Even though some of you may say that the recession has taken your wealth, we are still wealthy and, more importantly, we have the experience and the wisdom that our children do not have. They are struggling to make money and raise children, moving up the ladder; and they don't have time or the inclination to plan, thinking they have plenty of time. But maybe not. Look at what happened to me.
We have a great opportunity to take a long hard look at our situations, our entire family's situation and help all your generations by taking care of your plan, and ,if you are so inclined, you could give your children possibly the best gift you could give them by helping them to begin their planning.
Now is the best time you'll ever have to take care of all- wouldn't it be great if you could go to bed and have the comfort that you have done all you can do for you, your children, and your grandchildren? This is all about peace of mind.
I appreciate your being here; it's great to start out with my good friends. It just happens that you are my target market. Check out my website and come see me. We don't have to talk about my business or yours. I am just delighted to be back and to see you. Enjoy.
