Is Do-It-Yourself Estate Planning Right for You?
If you or someone you know is considering using online forms to complete essential estate planning documents like Wills, Trusts, or Powers of Attorney, a free workshop in Gainesville will answer any questions you many have about the risks of doing it yourself.
Why Shouldn’t I Do It Myself? is set for 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Manor Lake Gainesville, 2900 McEver Road in Gainesville. The program is being hosted by Kimbrough Law and Manor Lake Gainesville.
“Using online documents can give people a false sense of security,” said William H. (Kim) Kimbrough, Jr., attorney and founder of Kimbrough Law. “People often think that they have their affairs in order, but when they die, their heirs often discover that the self-created estate plan had unintended consequences, like family assets going to the wrong person, a hefty unexpected tax bill, unintentionally disinheriting a family member, or worse. These innocent mistakes can create family rifts that last for generations.”
Adults ages 50 and older are encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be provided.
Pre-registration for this free event is requested by Friday, November 1.
